  Three Types of Information

All the information Cute Reminder stores for you is classified depending on how it relates to a time. There are only three simple categories: Reminders, Notes and Ideas. The following table clarifies the classification.

Reminders are pieces of information tightly bound to a specific time. For example, if you have a meeting on Monday at 11:00 AM then you should set up a reminder, which will appear on your desktop at a specified time prompting you on the event. If you have a deadline, you set up a reminder to allow you to do the work in a timely fashion.

The key property of a reminder is that before its term is due it stays invisible and does not distract your attention. That means your mind is free from non-productive thinking about forthcoming issues instead of doing current work. Reminders allow good planning and prevent overloading.

Reminders hold information having a high time priority.

Notes are pieces of information not bound to a specific time. You use notes to remind you that you have something to do for which there is no specific deadline. Notes always stay on your desktop showing what you have to do when you have time. For example, you create a note in order not to forget to write a letter to a friend. You can also use notes to store temporary information like phone numbers or addresses.

The key property of a note is that it is always visible if other applications are closed or minimized. Notes can be colored and grouped according to your particular needs. This provides easy control over the jobs awaiting your attention.

Notes hold information having a normal time priority.

Ideas are pieces of information which are unproven, unreliable or incomplete and do not assume a deadline and do not need a certain action to be taken. You use ideas to avoid working on fuzzy goals and wasting your resources and time.

The key property of an idea is that it is usually invisible. This essentially reduces the risk of you being distracted by premature and unproductive information. Once an idea has been formulated and entered into Cute Reminder, your subconscious will work on it leaving your brain potential free either for work which needs to be done or for leisure. You will never lose your brilliant ideas and you will never waste your valuable time on bad ones.

Ideas hold information with a low time priority.
